Why was my payment declined?Updated 2 months ago

At Almond Muse, we work with trusted payment platforms to offer a smooth and secure checkout experience. Still, on occasion, a payment may be declined and this can happen for several reasons, even if your card appears to be working elsewhere.

This guide will walk you through the most common causes of failed payments and how to resolve them.

Common reasons for declined payments

  • Incorrect card details
Double-check the card number, expiration date, CVV (security code), and billing ZIP/postal code.

  • Insufficient funds
Your account may not have enough balance or available credit to complete the transaction.

  • Card restrictions or international blocks
Your card may be blocked from processing international purchases or fashion/luxury transactions. Contact your bank to confirm.

  • Fraud prevention flags
If your bank identifies the transaction as unusual or suspicious (especially for high-value or international orders), it may block the charge as a safety measure.

  • Technical issues
Sometimes, a glitch in the payment processor or internet connection can cause a temporary failure. This often results in the generic error:
     “Your card was declined.”

Will I be charged after a failed payment?

No, if a payment is declined, your account is not charged. You may temporarily see a “Pending” transaction, but it typically disappears within a few hours or days depending on your bank.

If the charge does appear as processed or remains pending for more than 48 hours, contact your bank directly to confirm.

What can I do to fix it?

  • Try re-entering your payment information carefully.

  • Use a different card or payment method (e.g., PayPal, Revolut, etc).

  • Contact your bank to approve the charge.

  • If you're shopping internationally, ask your bank to lift any international or e-commerce blocks.
